BESA Research 5.3.3 July 2010
BESA Research 5.3.3 July 2010 is the latest version of the BESA Research series. Compared to BESA 5.2, the 5.3 series provides the the following new features:
- MATLAB interface: The new MATLAB interface allows to combine the high-end data analysis capabilities of BESA Research and MATLAB, e.g. to perform automatized cross-subject statistical analysis on BESA Research data in MATLAB. Final or intermediate results of EEG/MEG data analysis can be transferred directly to MATLAB. MATLAB commands, scripts or functions can be called directly from BESA Research and applied to the provided data using BESA Research batch functions.
- CLARA - a new iterative, focusing 3D imaging method: CLARA (Classical LORETA Analysis Recursively Applied) is a newly developed iterative distributed imaging technique. Iterative 3D imaging methods aim at reducing the blurring of focal brain activity that is inherent to distributed imaging techniques while keeping the advantage of a predefined distributed source model.
- Inter-trial phase locking (ITPL): ITPL is a measure for the phase consistency of the oscillatory response of a single surface or source channel across multiple trials.
- New montaging options: The range of possibilities to create new montages has been extended: It is now possible to define the averages of user-defined channels as a reference, to compute user-specified weighted sums and differences of channels' signals, and to define virtual electrodes at arbitrary scalp locations.
- New default regularization constants for 3D source images: Each 3D source imaging technique can now be assigned its own regularization parameters.
- Windows 7: BESA Research officially supports the Windows 7 operating system.
- Postscript export: The option to export Top View screen content in encapsulated postscript format (eps) has been re-implemented in BESA Research 5.3.
- Menu-guided check for program and dongle updates
Important: New dongle system! BESA Research uses a new type of USB license keys (dongles) that code the license information. Instead of the former hardlocks, the new HASP system is used. License installation, administration, and update is much easier compared to the former system. This change requires all users who update from older BESA versions to use the new dongles, because the old hardlocks will not work for BESA Research 5.3 anymore. New HASP dongles are being sent to all BESA Research 5.3 customers via postal mail.
Complete setup: You can download the complete setup file for BESA Research from the following link: Setup_BESA_Research_V.5.3.3_July_2010.exe (419.782.656 bytes)
Update patch: To update from a previous version of BESA Research 5.3, please download and execute the update patch (33.657.878 bytes). Click here for a list of changes with respect to the previous version.
Trial version: If you would like to test BESA Research without owning a license yet, you can receive a fully functional, time-limited trial version. Please order a trial HASP dongle using the Trial Order Form.
